JOy Stuff!! The Art of Noticing. A new online class 🌼😀🌿

JOy Stuff-An Online Class with Lynn Whipple

I would love to share with you my favorite ways to celebrate delight in our everyday lives. Working in my JOy Stuff sketchbook has opened up a whole new way to make art, move my hands and soak in appreciation. It has been a wonderful addition to my world and gets me off to an artful, positive and grateful beginning to each day. The best part, other than that it is fun, is the way I feel connected to the things I love!

Come join me and our super supportive, fun-loving online community as we draw, paint, write, make paper with a Gelli Plate and play. 😀 We will collage and create delightful pages and fill them with meaning. And we will extend our gratitude to others by making tiny thank you notes to love letters and more. Let’s create a joy based and portable art studio in our sketchbooks.   Starts October 3rd! Click here for more info!

With loads of JOy!

 xoxo Lynn

It’s All About Flow 🌼🌿🌺

Hello hello!

IMG_8137

I wanted to share Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi with you. He is one of the first authors I encountered who researched the “in the moment joy of creating”. I found his book, Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience, 20 or more years ago. It peaked my interest way back then and since then I’ve listened to Csikszentmihalyi’s wonderful Ted talk as well. But, it’s that idea that when we get in the moment we know the next logical thing, we feel the creative sparks moving us forward and we make the perfect next move. We are in the glorious flow! Perhaps we are making music or we are doing something athletic or we are painting or drawing or writing or singing or dancing!

I hope you find yourself experiencing creative flow often! One way I know how to easily dive into flow is to set a little time aside (even 15 minutes) and simply move your hands!! See what happens!

Let’s flow!

💕💚😄

All my best!

Xoxo

Lynn

P.S. Here is a recent article featuring some of Csikszentmihalyi’s wisdom. Enjoy!

HI! I love sharing things that have given me a spark or smile. Some of them have a link to Amazon for you. I want you to know if you use the links, it is possible I  may get a little pocket change from Amazon, so thank YOU!! xoxox Enjoy!! xoxo Lynn

Art, friends, food and flavors. The joy of workshops 😊

Three art filled weeks in beautiful San Miguel, Mexico has left me with a broad smile on my face and tons of great memories. Carla Sonheim and I co-taught “Fiesta Flores” where we celebrated flowers with drawing, collage, painting and more. Our group of fun loving artists was fearless and full of laughter. We saw the sights and enjoyed fine cuisine in restaurants and in chefs kitchens 🙂 Many thanks to Kathie Vezzani and Ana Elana Martinez for showing us the sites and taking such great care of all the details 🙂

A few pics!

Thanks to you all for making the trip so much fun 🙂

Next post will be about The Face as Muse workshop 😊😁😊

Oh, yeah. Passion. Keepin’ the lurve alive.

Jen Storer you delight!! LURVE!!!

Girl and Duck

If you scroll down or if you go clickety-click here you’ll see that a while ago I scribbled a post about the Three Ps of Creative Writing. I also spoke about those Ps on a podcast with Allison Tait. (She’s the bomb by the way. People dig those podcasts so much. Check them out. Later. Once you’ve read this. No! Don’t go! Here’s some pretty words to make you stay…).

The third P as I declared it, is Passion. I remember Al asking, ‘So Jen, how do you keep the Passion flowing?’ I gabbled something. I don’t remember exactly what. Something about reading poetry. And watching films about C S Lewis. Or the Brontes. Or Will Ferrell. It was near the end of the interview. I had a touch of brain fatigue.

But the main thing about the Passion P is that I  encourage writers to CONSTANTLY do stuff that reminds them…

So nice to be featured on Perspective, Cherry Arts Young Professionals blog!! Thank you!! Excited for the upcoming Cherry Creek Arts Festival on July 4th weekend!

Last week, Cherry Creek Arts Festival had their kickoff party in celebration of this year’s event AND commemorative poster artist Lynn Whipple. Between poster signings and preparing for the arts festival, we asked Lynn a few questions and really get to know this year’s poster artist!

Lynn Whipple is a full time artist, who favors collage/mixed media and painting.

From her website:

“I am deeply grateful to live my life as an artist. Play and discovery are my dearest and most constant companions. There are a zillion tiny challenges in each art making experience, and so often I find, just as many small, sweet victories. Without a doubt, living creatively is the most enjoyable and satisfying game I know.”

PERSPECTIVE: First question is.. Easy? Please share with us what you do, and why you do it.
LW:
My name is Lynn Whipple and I am a visual artist and creativity teacher. I love what…
