So happy to be with pals celebrating the Festival International Cervantino this week. We are roaming the inspiring streets of Guanajuato, Mexico together… Drawing, taking photographs, trying all the different flavors and listening to music 🙂 from Authentic Romanian Gypsy music to dozens of Marachi bands and every type street musician you can imagine…. Wonderful!!
I hope you are enjoying lots of creativity these days. 2015 has been a great year for inspiration. I have truly enjoyed being a co-teacher with Carla Sonheim in our yearlong class 2015 Year of the Spark
Sharing so much artfulness with wonderful people from all over the globe has been a great gift.
Our community of talented, funny, generous creative spirits warms my heart every single day.
You guys rock!
And your art is Amazing!
So thanks to you all!!!!!!
We are continually astounded and inspired by you!!
Carla’s latest lesson has inspired me as well. She had us start by doing charcoal drawings from our childhood photos or childhood drawings. Next we paint with freedom of a child. (There are a few more steps here)
I loved doing the drawings!! Somehow my drawings took a different turn and became the bottom layer for a new series of paintings that feature flowers that are wildly overflowing in pots.
Thank you Carla for inspiring me to move my hands and trust the process 🙂 You are a tremendous artist and gifted teacher.
Ah haaaa!! So the little paper stars have some new friends 🙂 some stripes made from vintage photographs, and some stripes made from old quilts.
This new mixed media piece I’m working on was recently commissioned based on another flag I did a few years ago. Here are a few images 🙂
Here is the original 4×8 foot Flag named “Democracy.”
This piece now lives happily in a lovely little bed and breakfast in an old firehouse in Harvard Square.
Happy Forth of July wishes to you!
Collage is so so so much fun!!
